Hauz Khas Black and White Series: JharokaPosted by khadi (New Delhi, India) on 14 January 2009 in Architecture. Jharoka's are decorative overhanging balconies... they keep the sun out but channel the wind in to cool the buildings. In times of war they were used by archers and spies as look out points and in times of peace women would hide in them and look out at the world below. These days they're mostly used by couples, drug dealers and photographers.
